We invite the members of our community as well as our brothers and sisters in the emergency services community to join us on this special day.

At the December and March meetings it was discussed to continue our quarterly meetings March, June, September and December, as well as exploring the possibility of hold  2 other meetings at Departments to introduce ourselves and the organization to members of the fire service who may not know of us. At these meetings we will be presenting a training program for the host departments members, as well as Suffolk F.O.O.L.S. members.

Any member wishing to help in the development of these trainings, or wishing to do a short presentation before any of our regular meetings please contact the President.

11/19/2008: This letter from the international will be one topic discussed at the meeting:

Here we are on the back half of the year and what a year it's been. Many events have occurred and in 2009 the direction of the FOOLS is going to be moving like a freight train. This cannot be done without the support of each and every chapter. Your involvement in the many different areas is crucial to our organization going to the next level.

The foundation of the FOOLS has been set and now is the time to build on that. During the 2007 FOOLS Convention in Seaside Heights New Jersey, the general membership voted on an annual chapter dues, paid to FOOLS International and that a committee was formed to put together a dollar amount that each chapter would be responsible to pay every year. The committee (comprised of Richie Stack- Southside FOOLS, Eric Hankins- NorCal FOOLS, Bill Hopson- Jersey FOOLS, Jeremy Brown- Indy Metro FOOLS and Dana Potter- Southern New England FOOLS) drew up an amount based off of an individual chapter's membership. They brought forth the plan; it was approved by the FOOLS International Executive Board and put into the International's Articles of Association. The breakdown is as follows:

1-50 members = $50 per year
51-100 members = $100 per year
101-200 members = $200 per year
201 members + = $300 per year max

The annual chapter dues will be due starting January 1, 2009. This being the first year, we are allowing chapters a grace period till April 1, 2009 to be paid in full, but we strongly urge everyone to have their chapter dues paid in full as early as possible in 2009. It is in your best interest to have an accurate roster of your chapter so dues paid to FOOLS International will be accurate and match the roster that FOOLS International has on each chapter.

I am in the process of getting a definition from the international on what constitutes an active member member. If joining the International, or Suffolk FOOLS alone makes you a member then the chapter dues will likely be either $100.00 of $200.00 per year for our chapter. We must, amongst ourselves in December, decide how we wish to categorize active/inactive members.

I wanted to get this up so any member attending can read it and think of  how we should approach it for the best of the organization.

It is located on Nicholls Road (L.I.E. Exit 62 North about 4 miles to firehouse  on right) I am requesting all members turn out for this meeting to discuss the future direction of Suffolk FOOLS and the best course of action for us all.

Pass the word around and the Executive Board hopes to see as many of you as possible at the meeting.

                        Stay safe until then ,

                                                      Rich

9/11/2008

We always remember & we always will, on this somber occasion we ask all our our members and friends to Hug & kiss all family members and to call old friends to touch base.

Do it for them, do it for you,  do it for all of us.

- With Love from all the Officers & Members of Suffolk F.O.O.L.S.

8/13/2008- Also, in case anyone missed the positive comments from Fire Engineering Editor Bobby Halton at the FOOLS convention in July, here's the link. The Chief get it.

8/13/2008- O.K. Welcome back. After a computer meltdown by the web master we are back online. The 1st course of action was updating the L.O.D.D. table down below. Sadly I added 35 brothers to the list today with a heavy heart. Our next meeting will be 9/5 hosted by East Quogue. Hope to see you there. Any information, fundraisers, training information please forward to be put up on the site.

8/13/2008 - Here U.S.F.A. has released it's report on our 2007 deaths. Read it and see if there's anything you can do to help drop the numbers.

The Secret List paraphrased it for those with short attention spans:

Here is the U.S.F.A. overview of the 118 Firefighters that died while on duty in 2007:
=68 volunteer Firefighters and 50 career Firefighters died while on duty.
=There were 7 Firefighter fatality incidents where 2 or more Firefighters were killed, claiming a total of 21 firefighters' lives.
=11 Firefighters were killed during activities involving brush, grass, or wildland firefighting, the lowest in over a decade.
=Activities related to emergency incidents resulted in the deaths of 76 Firefighters.
=38 Firefighters engaging in activities at the scene of a fire.
=26 Firefighters responding to or returning from emergency incidents.
=11 Firefighters were engaged in training activities.
=15 Firefighters after the conclusion of their on-duty activity.
=Heart attacks were the most frequent cause of death for 2007, with 52 Firefighter deaths.

Are you a FOOL?

The only qualification is that you are true to your profession, and accept our mission in principle and in action.  All that matters is that you have our back, and we have yours.

Who Are the Fools

We are career, on-call, volunteer and retired firefighters (EMS welcome) with a passion for the camaraderie and brotherhood that is forged between firefighters, and the rich tradition and heritage of the Fire Service.

We are committed to being as well trained as possible – for ourselves, our brother firefighters, our families, and for the citizens we protect.  That is why we strive to provide quality training in all forms (hands-on, classroom & informal training).

We believe in giving back to our communities and helping those in need, which is why we have long been active in charitable fundraisers, raising money and giving our time to help burn victims, children with cancer, and the families of fallen firefighters

We at Suffolk FOOLS wish to thank the hundreds of FOOLS web sites we have stolen from to put this page up. The list is long and distinguished, so much so that we won't even attempt to thank you all individually.

If you are irate at our Research & Development ( F.D. translation Rip-off & Duplicate) please email us and will take down your stuff. Lawyers, guns and money will not be a necessity.
